Noise Industries FX Factory Pro, Volumetrix, and SugarFX Updates to popular FXPlug plug-ins

Motype
Motype is one of my favorite plug-ins from a Noise Industries partner company. If you haven't read my initial review of it, you can check it out by clicking here. New in version 1.2 of Motype is:

  • Added optional Drop Shadow
  • Added optional Glow on characters
  • 10 new HD and SD presets
  • Preservation of the user's custom text when changing presets

If you haven't checked it out yet, you really should. Version 1.2 is a free update for all current users, and you can download the update, or purchase Motype for $99 US by clicking here.

Volumetrix 2
The easiest way to describe Volumetrix version 1 is that it is a "God-Rays" effect. Version two has improved on that by leaps and bounds with new features and enhancements including:

  • Angle of wipe can be 0 through 360 degrees ( Limited to only 0, 90, 180, 270 deg. in Vol.1)
  • Six methods of hide and reveal (Three only in Vol.1)
  • Better, more organic rays
  • Improved glows that can now fill a frame from text
  • Glints are new + autorotate etc
  • You can now distort footage
  • Effects are now stackable (eg. - rays & glow)
  • Loads of new presets
  • Plus many other tweaks and performance improvements

Aside from FXFP, Volumetrix 2 has given the users the most improvements in an update, and the crazy thing is that version 2 is free (yes FREE) for current 1.0 users, and is only $49 US for new users. Great product for a great price!

DV Shade Easylooks 2.5
I looked at DVShade's Easylooks a little while ago, and was pretty impressed, and was of the opinion that it was a good color grading effect for editors to add to their arsenal. Version 2.5 adds some new and very welcomed new features such as:

  • 3-Way Color Correction
  • Adjustable Beginning and End Points for Gradient Effect
  • New Vignette Effect
  • New Rendering Pipeline for Additional Quality and Speed

Version 2.0 users can update for free to version 2.5, and new users who want to jump in and start color grading, can pick up this great plug-in for $49 US.

ParticleMetrix
I wanted to throw this in right at the end, not as any kind of a review, but more of a "you really have to check this out right now!!!!", as ParticleMetrix is not an update to a previous plug-in, but a brand new stand alone plug-in. ParticleMetrix from Industrial Revolution is a plug-in that lets you take video or text, and turn it into particles. Anything and everything in your project or composition can be turned into a particle emmiter to blow your clients away. Not only is it a FXPlug plug-in (meaning faster previews and renders from within Final Cut Pro and Motion), but with the power of FX Factory Pro, After Effects users can now harness the power of ParticleMetrix from within either After Effects CS3 or CS4 (as FX Factory Pro runs on Leopard only). ParticleMetrix is $99 US which might seem a little steep in price, but you will definitely see where your money is going. Check it out!

Interested in ParticleMetrix? You might already have the free demo as it comes with the most recent version of FX Factory Pro (version 2.0.8), which is a free download from www.noiseindustries.com .

I want to wrap this article up by noting that when looking at FX Factory Pro and it's partner effects companies, there really isn't one that stands out as being a weak one in the bunch. They all produce awesome effects that would be a welcomed addition to any editor or motion designers arsenal. If you haven't updated recently, or are unfamiliar with Noise Industries and their partner products, you really need to check them out. For more information on any of the products I have talked about in this article, you can check them out at www.noiseindustries.com .

Content Insider #148 - The iGen
NO...Doesn't have a thing to do with "that" smartphone...or "that" store...or "that" tablet. It's the next generation. Kids and we mean little kids. That's what today's products are being designed for/targeted at. You happen to buy one...fine. Watch a little, little kid pick up a smartphone. He/she just uses it. They've come pre-wired and we're still trying to figure out how to IM. It's the IGen. They want it instantly. They want to use it instantly. They expect their photos, their video, their music, their stuff immediately when/where/how they want it. Read More
Social Media #2
Number two in a series of articles to plainly explain what organizations need to consider and carry out in today's social media. As the online communities increase in size, number, character; companies will refine their activities to develop "word of mouth equity" that can be used to strengthen their understanding of the customer's wants/needs (present/future), produce sales, blunt the effect of cheap store brands compared to name brands and draw upon when problems, issues arise.
